About Urgliavich Building

154 years old historical Urgliavich Building, renovated in 2012, was built by Antoine Urgliavich, who is one of the most important manufacturer of eyeglasses and optical lenses during 19th century. He was also manufacturing binoculars and telescopes because of his interest to observe the sky and space. 

He located the building in the most convenient place due to his knowledge from his observations. The year was 1867. The apartment complex dominates the entire Galata Tower and Galata Square. On the 3rd floor there is a large balcony that surrounds the apartment from three sides, and on the top floor there is a large terrace with the panoramic view of Bosphorus, historical peninsula and Golden Horn.
